Belconnen, ACT, Jan. 9 -- ACT Policing issued the following media release:
The ACT has recorded its first road fatality for 2026 following atwo-vehiclecollisionon the Monaro Highway this morning.
About 11:30amtoday(Friday, 9 January 2026) police and emergency services received reportsof a collision between a car and atruck near the intersection of the Monaro HighwayandRoyallaDrive.
The driver of the car, a 25-year-old man, wastreated at the scene by ACT Ambulance Service paramedics before beingtransported to hospitalin a critical condition.
Sadly, he wasdeclared deceasedthis afternoon.
ACT Road Policing's Major Collision Team is investigating the circumstances of thecollisionand a report will be prepared for theCoroner.
