BRISBANE, Queensland, Oct. 5 -- The Queensland Department of the Premier and Cabinet issued text of the following statement:
Minister for Primary Industries
The Honourable Tony Perrett
* The Crisafulli Government is backing Beef2027, with the preliminary program now released, with just over 200 days before the gates open.
* Pitch In The Paddock applications and International Program expressions of interest are now open.
* After Labor turned a blind eye to primary industries, theCrisafulli Government is focused on delivering its ambitious goal to increase the value of primary production to $30 billion by 2030.
The countdown to Beef2027 is charging ahead, with just 209 days until the gates open in Rockhampton for the Southern Hemisphere's largest gathering of beef industry stakeholders.
The Crisafulli Government is delivering on its election commitment for a bigger and better Beef Week, with a record $4.5 million partnership with Beef Australia, supporting the week-long event from 2 to 8 May 2027.
It's just one of the targeted actions under Prosper 2050 Delivering Now, creating conditions for lasting investment growth by showcasing the beef sector, stimulating trade opportunities, and enhancing industry networks.
Beef2027 is set to feature Australia's premier national stud and commercial cattle championships, more than 500 trade fair exhibits, food and entertainment, and opportunities for producers, researchers, businesses, and investors to connect.
The momentum is building with the launch of the preliminary program which features the International Program and Handshakes Program designed to support trade, investment, and long-term industry relationships, with expressions of interest now open.
Applications are also open for Pitch In The Paddock, which gives start-ups, commercial ventures, and researchers the opportunity to pitch beef-focused innovations to industry stakeholders and investors.
Queensland's beef industry is a major contributor to the State's economy and regional communities, with Queensland home to almost half of Australia's cattle herd and beef worth more than $6 billion in 2024-25.
During Labor's decade of decline the beef industry was taken for granted under their anti-farming agenda, stifling regulatory burden, with support for Beef Week half of what it is today.
By supporting the biggest industry event for beef producers, the Crisafulli Government is backing the beef sector to help drive our ambitious goal to increase the value of primary production to $30 billion by 2030.
Minister for Primary Industries Tony Perrett said the latest program announcements showed the countdown to Beef2027 was well and truly underway.
"Beef Week is one of the great showcases of regional Queensland, and with just 209 days to go, you can feel the momentum building towards another huge week in Rocky," Minister Perrett said.
"We made a commitment to back Beef2027 and we are delivering record support because this event is about much more than seven days in May, it creates lasting opportunities for our producers, small and family businesses, exporters, innovators and the next generation of our industry.
"As a grazier who has been attending Beef Week since 1991, I know what this event means to the industry and toRockhampton. It brings the beef world to Central Queensland and puts regional Queensland on the international stage."
Beef Australia CEO Simon Irwin said Beef2027 is set to be a landmark celebration of Australian beef, bringing together industry leaders, producers, stakeholders, and beef enthusiasts from around the world.
"In just under seven months we will be opening the gates to Beef2027, bringing the global beef industry together to connect, celebrate, and showcase every facet of Australian beef," Mr Irwin said.
"We're excited to introduce a refreshed social program, adding new experiences to the Beef2027 calendar of events, while bringing back the crowd favourites people know and love.
"We are grateful for the Queensland Government's investment as a Presenting Partner for the 2027 event, solidifying their support for regional growth and prosperity in the primary industries sector."
Member for RockhamptonDonna Kirkland said Rockhampton is getting ready for a bigger and better Beef2027.
"Rockhampton has had plenty of attention over its ability to host major international events, and the recent endorsement of the Fitzroy River for Olympic and Paralympic rowing and canoe sprint reinforces what locals already know - Rocky can deliver on the world stage.
"We wantregional Queensland to share in the opportunities that come from major events, trade and investment, and Beef2027 is another chance to show the world what Central Queensland and our beef industry have to offer."
Member for Mirani Glen Kelly said the announcement of the preliminary program will whet the appetite of graziers and key beef industry stakeholders.
"The preliminary program shows the scale of what is coming, from more than 500 trade exhibits and our best cattle through to international trade connections, industry innovation, and Pitch In The Paddock," Mr Kelly said.
"Queensland is beef central and central Queensland is the capital, it's going to be an event not to be missed."
