CANBERRA, ACT, Dec. 5 -- Australian Federal Police issued the following media release:

A West Australian man is scheduled to appear before the Perth Magistrates Court today (5 December, 2025) charged with disorderly conduct and obstruct Commonwealth official.

AFP officers responded to a request for assistance from an airline about a man causing a disturbance in a domestic terminal at Perth Airport yesterday (4 December, 2025).

When officers approached the man, he allegedly became belligerent and aggressive and was subsequently arrested.

While AFP officers tried to search the man, he allegedly grabbed the officers' wrist several times to try to stop them searching and allegedly behaved in a threatening manner towards them.

The AFP charged the man, 39, with:

* One count of disorderly conduct in a public place, contrary to section 74A(2)(a) of the Criminal Code 1913 (WA). The maximum penalty for this offence is a $6000 fine; and * One count of obstruct Commonwealth official, contrary to section 149.1 of the Criminal Code (Cth). The maximum penalty for this offence is two years' imprisonment.

AFP Superintendent Peter Hatch said the AFP was committed to protecting the safety of the public and staff at Perth Airport and AFP officers acted swiftly after receiving a request for assistance from an airline.

"The AFP does not tolerate antisocial or aggressive behaviour towards members of the public or police officers and we work closely with partners in the airline industry to intervene and put people before the courts if their behaviour is allegedly unlawful," Supt Hatch said.
