Belconnen, ACT, April 25 -- ACT Policing issued the following media release:
A 14-year-old boy has been arrested overnight following the theft of a motor vehicle in the Gungahlin region.
About 3:10am this morning (25 April 2025), a 14-year-old boy stole an Audi SUV from a residence in Forde.
At this time, the owner of the vehicle woke to the sound of their vehicle engine starting and went outside as the vehicle was reversing out of the driveway.
The owner was able to get to the driver's side where he opened the door and restrained the 14-year-old boy.
Shortly after, officers attended the residence and arrested the boy.
The 14-year-old boy - who was subject to bail conditions at the time of the incident - has been charged with breach of bail and taking a motor vehicle without consent.
The boy will face the ACT Children's Court tomorrow morning (26 April 2025).
