CANBERRA, ACT, March 27 -- Australian Federal Police issued the following media release:

Two Sydney men are scheduled to appear before Parramatta District Court today (27 March, 2026) to faceone charge each of allegedly performing a Nazi salute.

The AFP National Security Investigations (NSI) team issued the Castle Hill men with a Court Attendance Notice in December, 2025, after they each allegedly performed a Nazi salute during a rally at Archibald Fountain in Hyde Park, Sydney, on 19 October, 2025.

The men, aged 24 and 25, have each been charged with one count of publicly displaying a prohibited Nazi symbol or giving a Nazi salute, contrary to section 80.2H of the Criminal Code (Cth). The offence carries a mandatory minimum sentence of one year's imprisonment and a maximum penalty of five years' imprisonment.

AFP Commissioner Krissy Barrett announced the establishment of NSI teams inOctober,2025, to target groups and individuals causinghigh levelsof harm to Australia's social cohesion, including targetingthe Jewish community.
