BRISBANE, Queensland, Jan. 24 -- Queensland Police Service issued the following media release:

Forensic Crash Unit have charged a 61-year-old Bowen man following a fatal traffic crash in Myrtlevale in September last year.

Emergency services were called to two-vehicle crash, involving a Holden utility and BMW sedan, on the Bruce Highway around 5pm on September 15.

The sedan caught fire as a result of the crash.

The driver of the sedan, a 22-year-old Burdell woman, died at the scene.

The driver of the utility, the 61-year-old Bowen man, was airlifted to Mackay Hospital in a critical condition.

Following extensive investigations, police have charged the driver of the utility with dangerous operation of a vehicle causing death whilst adversely affected by an intoxicating substance and did drive U.I.L.

He is due before Proserpine Magistrates Court on February 24.
