BRISBANE, Queensland, Dec. 25 -- Queensland Police Service issued the following media release:
Police have charged a man following a hit-and-run crash in Martyville this morning, December 25.
Initial information indicates approximately 5.20am, a man in his 20s was located deceased on the side of Martyville Road.
Following investigations by officers from the Forensic Crash Unit and Innisfail Criminal Investigation Branch, a 27-year-old man was taken into police custody.
He has been charged with drive without due care causing death and failing to remain at incident and render assistance.
He is expected to appear in Cairns Magistrates Court tomorrow, December 26.
Anyone with information or relevant vision that may assist with investigations is urged to contact police.
